As part of the Bosch 500 programme, the Bosch Cities Network was formed in 2010 to promote international co-productions between performing arts organisations in the Bosch Cities. The first project that emerged from this international network is the choreographic journey B Project, that will visit 's-Hertogenbosch and Rotterdam from 1-7 July 2013.
The aim of B Project is to connect dance organisations and dance makers to museums and the work of Jheronimus Bosch in five of the European cities where the paintings of Jheronimus Bosch are held, the so called Bosch Cities. B Project has selected five young and talented choreographers to research and create new works inspired by the universe of Bosch. The choreographers follow a series of five residencies all over Europe. The inspiration they find in these residencies will be transformed into five small dance works, that will go on tour in 2014.
The first residency took place from 30 May - 6 June in Pinkafeld, near Vienna, where many works of Bosch are to be seen. Artistic director Liz King from host organisation D. ID Dance Identity wrote: " It was a pleasure and honour to be able to hold the initial start for the Bosch Project here in Pinkafeld at D.ID. Following the process was fascinating and seeing the Artists take on their personal language on the subject of the Bosch paintings and drawings was intriguing. Thank you for the marvelous opportunity to participate on this unique project and looking forward to following the “plot“ further in the next months. "
The next stop in the project is Holland, where the participants will first dive into the history and life of the person Jheronimus Bosch in his hometown 's-Hertogenbosch. Afterwards they will visit Rotterdam to see and learn more about his work.
The partners in B Project will, like Bosch did and does, connect at a European level, developing new strategies and practices to inspire, produce and promote the works of choreographers in Austria, France, Italy, The Netherlands and the United Kingdom.
